Darren Larsen Patnoe, JD, LLM, CPBC
Darren Larsen Patnoe is an attorney in private practice in Camarillo, California, specializing in federal and state tax controversies, estate planning, wills and trusts, and bankruptcy. At the outset of her legal career, she worked as a tax attorney in the Office of Chief Counsel for the Internal Revenue Service in three districts for many years. Her tenure included service as a trial attorney, Assistant District Counsel and the Acting District Counsel. For 8 years during her career with the IRS, she represented the IRS in Bankruptcy Court as a Special Assistant United States Attorney in the Alaska District and the Central District of California.
Darren’s undergraduate degree is from UCLA (Economics and Political Science) where she also attended the Graduate School of Education and obtained a teaching credential. She earned her J.D. from Loyola Law School in Los Angeles, California. Darren later earned a LLM from New York University School of Law in Taxation.n 2021 Darren received her certification as a Professional Business Coach.
She currently serves on the National Board of Women In Insurance and Financial Services (WIFS) holding the office of Secretary, and she has been active in the Los Angeles Chapter serving as Treasurer. Darren has served on the Board of the Pleasant Valley Education Foundation, with the Girl Scouts and the Los Angeles Free Bankruptcy Clinic.

Dr. Daralee Barbera, EdD CFP® CMFC® ChFC® CLF® CPMBC®
Dr. Daralee Barbera is passionate about the importance of financial planning and the critical role of leadership. She is a certified business coach, international speaker, professor, author, and consultant.
Dr. Barbera holds an EdD in Leadership and Organizational Change from The University of Southern California, a BA in Mathematics (summa cum laude), and a MEd from California State University Long Beach. Dr. Barbera is adjunct professor in the MSM and MSFP/MBA programs at The American College and California Lutheran University, respectively. She is a veteran of the financial services profession, retiring as Managing Principal after a distinguished 34-year career at Waddell and Reed. She was EVP of GAMA International. She is President of Diversified Professional Coaching (DPC) LLC.
Dr. Barbera has co-authored two books: Women Matter – The Why and How of Gender Diversity in Financial Services and What You Can Do…When You Can’t – 21 Days to Personal Success. Her doctoral dissertation addressed Financial Literacy for Women and the Role of Financial Education. As well as having served on The American College’s Board of Trustees, she is Past President of the GAMA International Board of Directors, and past “Woman of the Year” for WIFS.

Mary Quist-Newins is the founder, CEO and President of Moneyweave® Academy. She has more than 30 years of experience in financial services as a practitioner, academic and corporate leader. Mary has received national and local recognitions through authorship, speaking engagements, research projects, awards, and media.
Passionate about helping women improve their financial security, she held the only endowed professorship in the nation dedicated exclusively to the study of women and money at The American College. While at The College, she founded the thriving and unique Center for Women and Financial Services. Mary authored the textbook, Women and Money – Matters of Trust. Her conviction to further the economic security for women was deepened in her role as past president of the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) for the state of Minnesota.
Mary’s background also includes leadership roles in major financial services firms, three financial planning practices across the country, and teaching college-level classes to prospective CFP® certificants. Her education, experience and research strengthened her resolve to make a difference for women and their economic security through financial literacy.
